The company was first established in 1924 by Mr.Arthur Spinney in the suburbs of Alexandria Egypt, to sell high quality fresh produce, grocery, and baked goods at a fair price and in a fresh and friendly shopping environment.

Mr.Spinney set the highest standards of quality, service and value, which led to Spinneys being invited to open stores in several markets across the Middle East and North Africa region.

By 1960, Spinneys grew into a regional chain and succeeded in opening additional retail outlets in Palestine and Jordan as well as supplying food for oil exploration teams across the Gulf region

Today, Spinneys Group is an established retailer serving millions of customers everyday through its diversified formats of hypermarkets and supermarkets several countries across the region.
