Job Description

University of the People (UoPeople) is a tuition-free, accredited online university that serves students who might otherwise be barred from a college education by reason of geography, culture, work, family, and/or finances.
The university has an immediate need for bilingual Arabic/English course developers for the following introductory college level areas/courses:
Humanities – Introduction to Philosophy
Social and Behavioral Sciences – Introduction to Psychology and Introduction to Sociology
Mathematics – Introduction to Statistics
Natural Sciences and Technology – Introduction to Biology
Writing – Composition, communications, and/or technical writing
Position Description and Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Program Director and Instructional Designer and is responsible for the design, development, assessment, and evaluation of courses. Specifically, through:
• Analysis of initial requirements, content and target audience to identify appropriate instructional strategies and define learning outcomes.
• Selection of appropriate reading materials—Open Educational Resources (OER) and/or approved eBooks
• Development of learning activities.
• Creation of online assessment tasks and assessment criteria.
• Preparation of instructions to assist future instructors.
• Creation of required documentation for the course review committee.
Course Developers are paid $750 USD per developed course.

Qualifications:
-A minimum of a master’s degree; candidates with Ph.D. degrees are advantageous, but this is not a requirement.
- Experience developing, designing, and/or consulting on the development of course/s.
- Previous instructional experience and willingness to instruct the course when offered.
- Appreciation of a diverse student population, representing the full spectrum of cultural, political, socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
- Experience and proficiency with Moodle is a plus.
- Expertise with using Modern Standard Arabic
- Fluent in Arabic and English
